Tiger eye can be yellow/brown, red/black, or blue/gray. The yellow/brown type is the most popular. This rock polishes very well and has a unique look. The stone appears to change colors as the light relects off the surface.
Tiger eye is wide spread throughout the world, with larger concentrations of the mineral in Brazil and Uruguay. This gem has a hardness of 7. A gemstone of average popularity, tiger eye (SiO2) has the same chemical makeup as citrine, rose quartz, and amethyst.
